Who can apply? 

Those who have submitted or plan to submit a presentation for the 10^th World Congress of Bioethics. Priority will be given to applicants with an annual income below US$ 10,000, and who are from the following places:

• countries in Africa (except Gabon, Libya & South Africa);
• Asia (except Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, S. Korea);
• South America (except Argentina, Belize, Chile, Uruguay, and Venezuela);
• the following countries in North America: Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras & Jamaica; and
• the following countries in Europe: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia FYR, Moldova, Serbia-Montenegro, & Ukraine.

What to submit for application: 

• Travel Grant Application Form – Each applicant may submit only one application form;
• An abstract for presentation at the 10^th World Congress of Bioethics (Submit your abstract through our online system here and state your abstract reference number in the travel grant application form. If you had submitted an abstract previously, please inform the Secretariat when submitting your application form); and 
• A sample piece of writing (e.g. an essay, published work, or a presentation given at another bioethics conference), if available.  

        Selection: 

• Submitted materials from qualifying applicants will be reviewed by a panel of senior scholars, whose decision will be final.
• Applications will be ranked according to the scores given by the reviewers and offers of travel grant will be decided on the basis of said ranking.
• Early submission is encouraged, to allow applicants to seek support from other sources, if their application is not successful.
• Deadline for submission of travel grant application form and supporting material:
  1 January 2010. 
• Confirmation of travel grant award: February 2010.
